Proceedings describing George Peabody's arrival in South Danvers at 9 a.m. on Oct. 15, 1866 and his visit with Eliza Sutton at her home. Reception given by school children follows, with address given by Dr. George Osborne on behalf of Library Trustees.

Letter of George Peabody Donating One hundred thousand dollars to the Peabody Institute of South Danvers. Includes donations of Queen Victoria's portrait and gold boxes from London and other testimonials. Announces need for strong room to hold these artifacts.
Action of the Town in response to George Peabody's donations, to accept his generosity and create a place that will meet his requirements, one where differences and political disagreements will be set aside.
